Electric Thermal Storage heating is proven technology used throughout the world. The concept is quite simple. In the service area of most utilities, the maximum demand for electricity occurs during the day (on peak hours), and often there is a surplus of available electricity at night (off-peak hours). To help fill this night time “valley” and reduce daytime demand, many electric utilities offer low cost rates to encourage their customer to use more electricity at night and less during the day.

A Stiebel Eltron ETS system is designed to take full advantage of this lowcost, off-peak electricity, thereby allowing the customer to heat a home or business at a reduced cost in comparison with a conventional electric heating system. ETS heat uses electricity during off-peak hours when electric rates are low. This low cost electricity is converted into stored heat in the ground at the desired thermostat temperature. This large mass of heat will discharge it’s heat into the room during the (on-peak) period and have enough heat to carry through until the next recharge time (off-peak).
